Hypnotherapy for performance anxiety, in London and online
For people who are demonstrably good at their work and who pay a private cost every time they have to demonstrate it. At your home or office, in a private consulting room in central London, or online.

The gap between competence and composure
The people who come for this are not underprepared. They are frequently the most prepared person in the room. The difficulty is not the material, and it is usually not even the performance itself, which often goes well. It is everything on either side of it.
The night before. The hour before, spent managing a physical response that has nothing to do with the actual stakes. And afterwards, a review that runs for far longer than the event did, cataloguing a list of imperfections that no one else in the room registered.
What makes this particularly isolating at senior level is that admitting to it feels disproportionate to your position. So it goes unmentioned, which removes the one thing that might have reduced it.
Why more preparation stops helping
Preparation is the natural response, and it works — up to a point. Past that point it inverts. Preparing becomes the way the anxiety is managed rather than the way the work is done, so the volume of preparation rises while the composure does not, and the effort quietly expands to fill whatever time is available.
The reason more preparation cannot close the gap is that the response being managed is not an assessment of your readiness. It is an automatic anticipatory reaction that arrives regardless of how ready you are, which is why it can be entirely detached from the real risk of the meeting.
The work addresses that reaction directly rather than trying to out-prepare it.
Will it take the edge off?
This is the question people actually want answered, and the concern behind it is legitimate: a degree of pressure sharpens you, and nobody senior wants to trade their edge for calm.
The aim is not to flatten the response. It is to return it to proportion, so that what you feel before a decisive moment is the useful part — alertness, focus, the sense that it matters — without the part that costs you the night before and the two hours afterwards.
Private consultation
A confidential conversation about which moments actually trigger it, and what the cost currently is. Without obligation.
A finite programme
A defined number of sessions, scoped in advance. Where there is a specific event in view, the programme is arranged around it.
What you keep
A way of arriving at high-stakes moments in proportion, that does not depend on the moment being rehearsed forty times.
I perform well but feel terrible. Is that still this?
Yes, and it is the most common version at senior level. The visible outcome and the private cost are separate things, and the fact that the first one is fine does not oblige you to accept the second.
Will this dull my edge?
That is not the aim. The intention is proportion rather than flatness — keeping the alertness that makes you good in the room, without the anticipatory cost that arrives days before it.
How close to an event can we start?
That depends on the event and on how much time remains, and it is the first thing the consultation establishes. Where a date is already fixed, the scope of the programme is arranged around it.
Is performance anxiety a medical diagnosis?
The term as used here describes an experience, not a diagnosis. This is a hypnotherapy practice and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Where something suggests a matter for a doctor, the consultation will say so.
